JANE RUSSEL IN MEMORIUM
When we learned of Jane Russel’s passing I was quickly reminded that yet another Hollywood iconic actress has passed from the Golden Age. How best are we to continue remembering them, as we must, for their talents are indelibly inspirational despite women’s lib! Sexy and talented is classic!
In honor of her legacy I’m linking her renowned signature song below; a portrayal that goes with the legend known as (see video)Â Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend.
We’ve loved taking care of our golden age actors. Ms. Russell was one most pursued for her endowments (as Howard Hughes wanted to flaunt). Yet her best work was to assist children to be adopted through her remarkable charity, advocacy, and organizational work, which brought new legislation for adoptions across state lines, thereby creating possibilities for kids to find loving homes that continues today. Many other remarkable feats ensued, and as Ms. Russell proved, she was a tremendous force to be reckoned with and not for her ‘natural attributes’ alone.
Jane Russel was known for her impresive performance alongside another icon, Marilyn Monroe. A remarkable talent that burned up the silver screen just by radiant presence (separate of any required acting skills). Or as Anthony Hopkins once described it so well: ‘when Marilyn entered the scene she simply had a light around her, she glowed. And no other actor had a chance against it no matter how good they were, I was totally in awe! ‘ These starring iconoclastic women proceeded to shatter traditional beliefs in the film Gentlemen Prefer Blonds; movies that became venerated classics.
The song lyrics mention Tiffany’s and Cartier, references related to Hollywood for perks that dreams are made of, which film audiences worldwide love to see come true. Both ladies are fondly remembered by us. Their wonderful films helped liberate women’s sensuality to be openly fearless, and voguing appearances by actresses showing off their gowns/costumes on the Red Carpet also endures, actually, heavily pursued! This song was covered by Beyoncee for Armani perfume, who gave it a modern girl’s heated twist of how enduring diamonds truly are. Despite blood diamonds controversy (a deplorable practice so make certain of your source buying), glamour remains unwaveringly pursued in dramatic intrigue, and passionately be-jeweled!
