FIRST DOG – White House Bo

FIRST DOG BO received by OBAMA family

We all remember our very First Dog and the great love that developed instantaneously. The White House released a new photo of Bo Obama, the Obamas’ new puppy, running though the halls with President Obama. Bo is a six-month-old Portuguese Water Dog who arrived at the White House over the weekend as new Puppy-In-Chief, a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy. The moment precluded much fanfare due to world news and holidays that eclipsed the event.

We’re all grateful for the return of the heroic U.S. Captain Richard Phillips, from the intense challenge of the piracy incident gripping the nation over the holidays (see more on same link above). A huge undertaking of Navy Seals and highly trained brave men who accomplished their mission under such extraordinary worldwide public scrutiny. Since that story is being extensively covered in regular news we won’t go into it here, other then to say those of us at ISA team are relieved, proud, and glad for them and their family’s as many feel here and abroad.

ISA staffing has proudly served many former presidents and heads of states over the years. We know from our experience of also staffing security personnel how difficult these decisions are to make for all concerned. What an amazing show of the best and brightest our country provides as example to the world. See our website gallery photos for past clients of world leaders (not all are included due to confidentiality issues). This is a job few can possibly relate to for all that’s involved. The pressure is tremendous, and we know a sweet doggie helps take the edge off. We’re animal lovers who have many TIPS for pet care in our blog, so just in case you haven’t seen the WHITE HOUSE FIRST DOG pics we’ve included them to record this happy occasion (more on past Presidential first dogs at link above). Folks who love animals are thrilled to have a new White House First Dog. The OBAMA family has never had a dog before. The President and the First Lady did not grow up with dogs, so this is truly a FIRST for everyone. Review our past blog entries to learn lots of great TIPS, and keep loving the four legged creatures who bring so much joy and love into our lives.

THE HOPE AND CHANGE PUPPY

Bo wearing his Welcome Lei

Bo already knows who’s the boss, following President Obama around on his walks and jogging through the White House. Bo’s manners are particularly of interest to all of us.  We trust the wisdom of First Lady Michelle Obama and those who are on security duty to ensure reporters don’t suddenly put a hand out to a dogs face. As we understand it, the general rule is let the dog come up to you and sniff around. Take a beat for that to happen, and only when they wish to engage make contact with the dog. We’re glad to know doggies of our country are now once again represented as Bo, Puppy-In-Chief, takes over the helm after being highly recommended to become a new member of the Presidents closest staff. Senator Kennedy (who has several Porties), heavily vetted the new puppy for character, disposition, training, and qualification for those with dog sensitivities or allergies like Malia has. Porties are friskly needing lots of exercise. The Obama sisters will have fun with this breed on the White House lawn big enough (well, actually huge) for lots of running play. This is a bipartisan moment of gladness everyone can participate in. We offer our wholehearted cheer for Bo as a new member of The White House staff. Go Bo!

GOOD PAL BO WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA

GOOD PAL BO WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA

We will see many days ahead when the President and his family play on the White House lawn, greet visitors, and travel with Bo to Camp David and hometown Chicago. We’re sure Bo will take it in his white-footed Portie stride. After all, a FIRST DOG has high standards to live up to as other dogs had to meet in the past. Bo was carefully trained, including running with President Obama on his jogging routine. Notice how Bo keeps left at the President’s side, with leash trailing, not in front and not behind. A true well mannered good companion pal will be at his owners side whether leashed or not as Bo demonstrates. Our TIP for today is to gently recommend the OBAMAS consider getting BO a companion down the line. The  Bush family had two cute dogs their girls enjoyed growing up with. We feel dogs need companionship when the First Family is so busy, so that Bo has someone to run with at his side!
